Barnabus Charity Collects New Van
Barnabus is a Manchester based charity, established in 1991 with one man, concerned by the number of homeless people sleeping rough in Manchester, decided to do something about it. Armed (initially) with just sandwiches, a flask of coffee and his own faith, Peter Green made it his mission to improve the lives of the homeless and the vulnerable. He soon recruited his wife, Beryl and others and as the movement grew, they very soon found themselves in possession of a donated double-decker bus. The rest, as they say, is history. Barnabus has since been joined by many, many more good souls and today, they can be found not only serving the many and complex needs of the homeless, they also help tackle the root causes of homelessness, help the ‘hidden homeless’ as well actively helping people find a way out in a number of creative ways.
As many of you know, we’re always keen to get behind a good cause, so we wanted to do what we could when Barnabus came to us with an old van they were getting ready to retire with a view to replacing it with something a little more modern and capable.
Our very own Rental & Sales Executive Bethan, pictured here with Allan and Neil from Barnabus, was delighted to help the Barnabus team decide on a nearly new van which best met their needs. We were very conscious that the charity had engaged in fundraising to allow them to invest in upgrading to a better van, so we wanted to make sure that they had something fabulous. We were very pleased to give not only advice, but also a heavy discount to help this wonderful charity’s precious funds go that little bit further. They’ve chosen to part exchange their old van against one of our nearly new vans for sale.
The Barnabus team settled on this stylish and exceptionally capable VW Crafter, which is large enough to handle pretty much any job, packed full of the latest technology and built to last. Very soon it’ll be seen around the streets of Manchester, helping the Barnabus team do what they do best, but first, it’ll receive some custom Barnabus decals to help spread the word while the van is out and about.
