The BMW X5 is the original big SUV from BMW. In the large luxury pseudo off-road sector, BMW have always done a grand job turning the heads of those who might otherwise have defaulted to a Range Rover, but as always faces stiff competition from Mercedes and Audi who also have machines to tempt the big spenders towards their own big machines. Naturally we won’t be beaten for luxury car hire and ALL of those brands are available right here at Westwood!
Where the BMW X5 finds its niche though, like most Beamers, is with those looking for a precise engaging drive. Sure it can waft with the best of them, but if you get the sudden urge to round a bend sideways or take a country road at full throttle, you’d probably feel better doing it in a BMW. We’re not saying you ‘should’, but if you did, you almost certainly would!
The 2024 BMW X5 in all of its dizzying array of models and equipment levels is pretty much everything you could possibly want in a car. It’s huge, packed full of the latest in vehicular technology and constructed of the finest materials both inside and outside the cabin. You’re not going to find any cheap scratchy platics or low rent fabrics, every inch of it has been meticulously crafted from premium quality stuff.
Start to play with the tantalising range of options though and the 2024 BMW X5 starts to take you through mere luxury and out the other side into sheer opulence. The X5 starts at roughly £70k, but if you go bonkers with the options, you could drive away in up to £115k worth of BMW!
A panoramic sunroof isn’t top level spec’ any more, you can get your glass ceiling studded with a grid of tiny LED’s to match your ambient lighting settings. THAT’s pretty swish! Not only can you get heated and vented seats to pamper your posteriors, but your chosen beverage can be treated the same way – yep, heated and cooled cup holders. What we’re saying is that although the standard kit is pretty generous, you can spend a bit (well, a lot) extra and end up with more car than you could possibly imagine.
Naturally, there’s a choice of petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug in hybrid, a choice of trim levels and power levels. Standard wheels, or alloys so big the tyres are mere rubber bands around them. WIth the engines, the plug-in hybrid is likely going to be the best choice for most. Not only does the hybrid battery have a pretty good range – enough to get you to work and back without having to trouble the fuel tank, it also means that the BMW X5 PHEV gets itself a super low percentage on the Benefit In Kind table, so company car users (with whom, in fairness most of these beasts are going to find most of their homes) will get to save a fair few Pounds on their luxury wheels thanks to the lower company car tax. It’s also the fastest version (sub 5 seconds in the sprint to 60 MPH) apart from the exotic ‘M’ versions of course!
If a green oval badge on your bonnet jus isn’t feeling the same anymore, a blue and white propeller badge just might be the ticket to perfomance that pampers and motoring that’ll make you smile – naturally, you know where to find all the best deals!
