Company Announcement Concerning Amberswood Tavern

Amberswood Tavern has been a pub in Ince for a long time, situated next to our main site in Wigan. There has been some speculation regarding our acquisition of Amberswood Tavern. To clarify, Westwood Motor Group are expanding operations, and upgrading our head office facility in Wigan. We have invested £550,000 into the expansion. This began when we acquired the land at the rear of Amberswood Tavern in 2013. Just recently, the expansion has come into fruition as we get the 5 year in-planning project underway.  Amberswood Tavern, which we understand is a historical community pub, was put up for sale. As we were expanding, this caught our attention, and so we decided to buy. The reason for this is much needed office space and car parking. Recently, we began concreting the additional land at the back, which is surrounded by security fencing. Of course, all of this is creating one of the largest sales and hire operations in the North West.  As we continue to grow, we seek to create 8 additional positions of employment within the company; Sales Negotiators, Workshop Technicians and Office Assistants. We currently have Valeters, Workshop, Rental executives, Sales Executives, Marketing and a Financial Department, all of which are on site.

Why we are expanding

For those who don’t know much about our operations, it’s only fair that we create a small overview of Westwood Motor Group and what we are about. Chris Melling, Managing Director of 13 years, is a Wigan resident with very strong beliefs in the local community. Westwood’s operations include several charitable donations throughout the community.  We continually donate vehicles to help specific causes. We have donated a vehicle to The Brick which provides vital food supplied to the community. Additionally, we regularly donate to Wigan Youth Zone, who we are a silver patron of. Moreover, Wigan Athletic Community Trust, local schools, and the ‘Latics2Amsterdam’ charity bike ride in aid of prostate cancer. There are several charitable donations we make, and we consistently seek out causes to help out with in the Wigan community wherever and whenever appropriate. Our fleet exceeds 1,300 vehicles at our Wigan site. We take great pride in having the best specified vehicles available for our customers, whether this be Regionally or Nationally. 

Working with local partners is a large part of our business

As can be seen, we have a large network of personal customers. At the same time, our financial contribution to the community is notably significant. We have several working partnerships with local businesses around Wigan. Many of which who rely on us for their vehicles. Whether these be large companies or sole traders, we strive to continually cultivate these relationships. We enjoy the friendly partnerships we have with our local customers. We pride ourselves on having Vehicle Solutions For Everyone. With this intention, this is the reason for our ever important expansion. In order to satisfy our customers and business requirements, this is something that has to be done.

Understandably, this is an issue to some local residents. Please be aware that Amberswood Tavern was put up for sale and Westwood Motor Group purchased before anybody else. There is no malicious intent. These are just vital steps in a 5 year plan to expand this company.  With this in mind, we hope to make things clearer.
