Ford Transit
The Ford Transit is the full size sibling to the ubiquitous Ford Transit Custom and between them, they’re pretty much every van you could possibly need. Back in the mid 20th Century, the first Ford Transit rolled off the production line and instantly became an unstoppable best seller – several decades and generations later, the Transit hasn’t been off the top of the best selling vans list for any given year. Small wonder then that this fantastic large van is a massive hit with our van hire and fleet hire customers.
As with many vehicles over the years, the Ford Transit just got bigger and bigger, so rather than leave the mid-size van market without a Transit, the Ford Transit Custom was created as an offshoot of the every growing full size Transit. The Custom continued to dominate the mid-size van sector the full size version had outgrown, while the Transit went on to dominate the large van sector. The Large For Transit also lent it’s highly capable chassis to tipper, dropside, Luton and Minibus configurations. (Also available from Westwood).
As ever though, the Ford Transit Formula is preserved in their latest offering. Reliable underpinnings, great design, great value, some brilliant tech and a surprisingly good driving experience for a vehicle its size. Even the simply HUGE Ford Transit Jumbo, the adopted name for the L4 H3 Transit – the largest available configuration, is a pleasure to drive and doesn’t feel too far removed from simply driving a car.
At Westwood, we rarely get vehicles that are anything other than high end or top of the range. With this being the case, the ‘Ford Transit Limited’ is a fleet hire staple. For Ford, Limited Specification is towards the top end of the scale when it comes to extras and upgrades. You get all round parking sensors, metallic paint, alloy wheels and some top tier cabin gizmos to make your life easier.
The Latest 2024 version of the Ford Transit Limited comes with Ford’s new ‘Sync4′ infotainment system, which means you get a giant 12″ hd touchscreen and a whole host of new and upgraded features over the outgoing Sync3, which was always pretty good in any case. Ford’s Sync 4 system is far more than a software update, it’s a whole integrated collection of vehicle systems connected to a brand new high-tech’ display and especially of interest for fleet managers thanks to the advanced fleet telematics systems built in.
