Jaecoo J7 Luxury PHEV Car Hire

Game Changing Luxury For Hatchback Money!

The Jaecoo J7 is the first UK spec’ vehicle arriving on these shores from Jaecoo. J-who?” you might ask! Great question! Jaecoo are the sister brand to Omoda whose cars you’ve already seen here at Westwood. Owned by the colossal Eastern automotive giant Chery Motors, they’re just gaining a foothold in the UK, but expect very big things very quickly from both brands.

We’ve just had our first look at the Jaecoo J7 in the metal here at our Wigan Head Office and while it’s only mid January, we’re predicting tha this is going to be the most exciting car of the year!

A bold assessment, but it’s seriously justified. First of all, just look at it. The lines and the design are exactly in keeping with the luxury marques the Jaecoo J7 is gunning for. It’s imposing, distinctive and with a pleasing outline. The interior is similarly impressive with so many features it’s probably be easier to tell you what it doesn’t have….. but the only thing we can find that’s missing is bad design. The interior is simply beautiful. Logically laid out and with elegant lines in keeping with the opulence promised by the exterior.

A quote from our MD Chris Melling on taking his first drive in the J7 pretty much says it all “The Germans should be very worried”!

In the UK, we’re not yet familiar with Jaecoo’s design language so comparisons with more familiar vehicles are inevitable. We reckon the exterior looks like Landrover collaborated with Jeep to create a concept for the next Range Rover Velar. The interior on the other hand looks like Audi helped Tesla become a bit more classy and practical.

Why Should the Germans Be Worried By The Jaecoo J7?

It’s a valid question, but anyone who’s tried the new Jaecoo is likely to expect it to cost far more than it does. A car that simply oozes class, has frankly insane levels of technology and a feature list so long you’ll be amazed it’s all in one car, simply shouldn’t be this inexpensive. You’d expect something to be compromised, a corner or two to be cut somewhere. You’d forgive it if that were the case too. BUT, there are no compromises. The kit, the quality and the design are all up there with anything ‘established’ German brands are offering. But the J7 costs a fraction of equivalent machines from Germany.

The question is not so much how come Jaecoo can do something this good so cheaply, but how can the Teutonic automotive brands now justify their prices? THAT is why the Germans should be worried. A GLC is going to be hard to justify now that the J7 exists.

Why Hire a Jaecoo J7?

The Jaecoo J7 is a company car users dream. FIrst of all, because it’s a super premium machine without the super premium price tag, your company car budget will go way further – you’ll look like you got a great big promotion when you pull up in the company car park!

We’ve opted for the top of the range PHEV version which is the most powerful as well as the most efficient. Combining petrol and electric it produces a power output of 204ps and can accelerate from 0-60 in 8.5 seconds, which is plenty for a car this size. As a plug-in hybrid, it also has a reasonable battery only range of just over 56 miles. With hybrids, the mpg is always a bit fanciful, but officially, the Jaecoo J7 can achieve up to 403 miles per gallon. Top up the battery, top up the 60 litre tank and Jaecoo reckon you’ll be able to drive for up to 745 miles without stopping! All of this means that the C02 rating is through the floor at just 23g/km, meaning that the BIK company car tax is pretty much as low as it can be without driving a fully electric car!

The massive screens which dominate the dash tell you that the technology on offer is going to be impressive and the J7 delivers magnificently on that promise. Naturally there’s a collection of every bit of driver aid and safety system you can think of. Lane keeping and lane changing assist, lane departure prevention, collision warning followed by automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and rear cross traffic alert are all par for the course keeping you safe. However, the car also monitors your face for tiredness and alertness via the driver monitoring system and by far our favourite safety feature is the warning light on both the rear passenger doors which warns back seat passengers of approaching traffic they might not be able to see, in case they were considering opening the door.

Still a high end luxury feature, 360 degee parking cameras are present and look glorious on the massive centre console screen, however, the J7 briefly shows appropriate angles from these cameras as you indicate and go round corners – it’s a massively impressive feature we haven’t seen anywhere else.

Similarly, a full length panoramic roof is always an impressive feature and the Jaecoo J7 brings the wow with this along with a tilt and slide sunroof.

Ambient lighting, pop out door handles and a sheer feeling of quality throughout make the J7 an absolute no-brainer for pretty much anyone!

As we said in the introduction, the feature list is massive, so if you’re still undecided, we suggest you pop in, see one and have a drive in it – anyone doing THAT will surely want to drive it away!

Give us a call and ask about the various car hire options available on the Jaecoo J7, from flexible hire, long term car hire and contract car hire, we have a number of options which can be tailored to how you want to rent your car or indeed hire a fleet of them!
