A New Brand With A New Model From The Biggest Car Company You’ve Never Heard Of!
Never heard of Omoda? Props if you have, but it’s likely this is the first you’ve seen of them, or even of their parent company Chery Motors. (Unless, of course you’ve seen them on our social feeds, or you’re one of our car hire customers to have already rented one from us!). Not previously seen much in the West, but on a global scale Chery Motors pretty much outsell Tesla. This well established brand has introduced a new marque; ‘Omoda’ to break into the European market and they’ve very much hit the ground running with this, the Omoda 5.
At first glance, you’d think there was a concept car or a new addition to the Range Rover line-up, but on closer inspection, you’d see ‘Omoda’ written across the bonnet.
Some of us will remember (pre 2000) when we first started seeing Kia Motors cars on the roads. An unknown Eastern brand we were understandably a bit cautious of due to unfamiliarity. They offered good cars, overloaded with features and gizmos, but at super low prices and today, 20 plus years on, and with a 7 year warranty, are increasingly upmarket challengers to anything Germany can create.
Omoda look to be taking this self same formula (and then some) with the ‘Omoda 5’ and hopefully with their forthcoming models too – it certainly looks the part inside and out and it’s not just looks, the quality is there too. If there was any doubt, it’s already got the full 5 stars from NCAP, proving it’s as safe as it is sleek.

We could go on about the massive selection of features, including Sony stereo, all round sensors, reverse camera, multiple driver aids and more, but really, for a car you can drive away in from a price equivalent to a regular family hatchback, it’s an absolute no brainer!
It looks expensive, it feels expensive, it’s pretty quick, very safe and it’s got the kind of kit you’d pay three times more for if it had a German badge!
For the moment, it’ll look like you got a great big promotion at work and it’s up to you whether or not you tell admirers of your head turning new wheels how little you’re paying to drive it!
