Why is team engagement so important?
At Westwood, we’re the leaders in the vehicle solutions sector. It’s the sort of thing everyone says, but the REASON we’re ahead in our industry is because of the incredible team we’re privileged to have on board. It’s the reason we’ve exceeded every growth projection and the reason we were (for example) the only business in our sector to appear on the recently published ‘Fastest 50‘ list of the most successful 50 businesses in the Northwest.
Part of our unique position of leadership is that others pay attention to what we do and follow where we lead. We can and do make our industry better just by showing the way.
So when it comes to investing in talented people, which then leads to us finding even better ways to look after our growing customer base, or make our operation run just that bit smoother, it goes without saying that the people behind our business should be recognised and rewarded for using their dedication and talent to tangibly contribute to the success of Westwood, and furthermore, the reward should go beyond a mere token and a photo opportunity for social media.
This is why, every time we recognise our team members, aside from a trophy and a certificate, we also make sure these awards come with a £250 gift voucher of their choice. Real effort deserves a real reward.

How many times do you hear ‘everyone is a stakeholder’? – probably so often it’s lost all meaning. So we’ll explain it another way. We encourage EVERYONE to think and act like a Managing Director. When you’re the MD everything matters, every detail, no matter how small is important, the company is a reflection of you personally and you’re directly invested in how it runs each and every day. This mindset inspires our whole team, each of whom continually strive to find improvements and give of their best.
For example:
Toni has been working in our accounts team for some time now and we don’t know how we’d cope without her. Not only can she do some truly incredible things with an Excel spreadsheet (apparently a pivot table isn’t an item of furniture), but she’ll happily pick the phone up to a customer, while reconciling a statement to several decimal places. Such incredible versatility is a joy to behold, all achieved with a smile on her face.
Kegan is on our technician team and while our head technician has been away, Kegan has effortlessly taken the reigns. Despite having only qualified as a mechanic in recent years, he’s managed this tremendous responsibility magnificently. We’ve deliberately avoided saying ‘for one so young’ because no such qualifier is needed. A technician with decades of experience would STILL deserve praise for doing what Kegan has achieved!
Matthew has recently taken over a newly created role and is tasked with keeping track of the location and condition of our vast fleet across our branches. In order to manage this, he’s been given free rein to create and manage new systems. To say how well he’s done in such a short time would be to understate the intelligence, practicality and creativity he’s applied to the task.
THIS is why team engagement is so important.
Our team don’t put limits on their talent and dedication, so we don’t put limits on how many we recognise for being magnificent!
