With this being the case, we’ve been really excited to get our hands on the newly updated 2020 model; the VW Transporter Highline 6.1 a significant upgrade from the previous version and we’re getting the full range!  

What’s new with the VW Transporter 6.1?

The 2020 version of the VW Transporter, described by Volkswagen as an improvement on perfection, isn’t just a cosmetic nip and tuck, although the improved looks might be the first thing you notice on the outside. The differences inside are even more apparent, with the dash being significantly upgraded with the very latest technology. Some of which you’ll see, the rest becoming apparent when you drive. The large infotainment touchscreen taking centre stage right in the middle of the dash is likely to catch your eye first and rightly so. For sheer practicality, the cleverly designed cockpit is intelligently laid out for storage as well as for placing the controls exactly where you need them. The underlying technology is particularly exciting however. The traditional hydraulic power steering has been replaced with an electronicly driven mechanism, which still give great feedback when you’re driving, but allows other driver assistance tech’ to help out when needed. From lane keeping assistance on long drives, subtly detecting and resisting crosswinds on exposed routes, to active parking on some models, it’s a change you’ll feel rather than see. Volkswagen have done a great job making it a useful assistant rather than an obtrusive backseat driver. For those of you who aren’t fans of having to physical plug your phone into your vehicle to make use of Apple Carplay/Android Auto, the new eSim and ‘VW We Connect’ system do away with this, as well as smart features like monitoring vehicle stat’s via your smartphone or even locating your van in a car park. There’s so much to discover on the new 2020 VW Transporter and especially so in the class leading Highline variant on offer here at Westwood.
